Our stay at Winding Waters RV Resort in Cartersville, Georgia, was a short one, as we were only there overnight before dropping Big Bertha off for repairs the following morning. Even though we didn't have enough time to take advantage of everything the resort has to offer, we were able to get a good feel for the park during our stay.

Overall, Winding Waters is a beautiful, well-maintained RV resort with plenty of amenities, especially for families traveling with children. There is certainly no shortage of things to keep everyone entertained, making this a park where you could easily spend several days without ever leaving the property.
Our biggest concern was the spacing between some of the RV sites. With Big Bertha being a 46-foot fifth wheel, the sites felt a little closer together than we personally prefer, especially in a resort designed to accommodate larger RVs. That doesn't necessarily make it a negative, but it is something big-rig owners may want to consider when choosing a site.
For what we needed—a convenient overnight stop that put us closer to the dealership for an early morning drop-off—Winding Waters worked out well, and we were glad we made the decision to stay there.

There weren't really any memorable moments during our stay at Winding Waters since we were only there for one night. This stop was more about convenience than exploring or enjoying the resort.
Looking back, moving closer to Three Way Campers the night before dropping Big Bertha off for repairs turned out to be one of the best decisions we could have made. Instead of facing a four-hour drive on an already stressful morning, we only had about 30 minutes to travel. Sometimes the best RV travel decisions aren't about the destination or what you get to see—they're simply about making the next day a little easier.

Winding Waters is conveniently located in Cartersville with easy access to I-75, making it a good location for exploring the surrounding area. Historic Downtown Cartersville is less than three miles from the resort and offers a variety of restaurants, shops and local attractions.
For those wanting to explore, nearby attractions include the Booth Western Art Museum, Tellus Science Museum, Savoy Automobile Museum and Etowah Indian Mounds State Historic Site. Outdoor enthusiasts can spend time at Red Top Mountain State Park, Lake Allatoona or along the Etowah River. LakePoint Sports is also nearby, making the resort a convenient option for families traveling to the area for youth sporting events.
You won't have to travel far for everyday necessities either. Cartersville has plenty of grocery stores, restaurants, shopping and other conveniences, so anything you might need during your stay should be relatively easy to find.
Best For: Best suited for families, especially those looking for a campground with plenty of activities to keep children entertained. With a swimming pool, lazy river, waterslides, playground, stocked ponds, sports courts and planned activities, there is plenty to do without ever leaving the resort.
Our stop at Hope Hull RV Park came during what turned out to be an unexpected detour. We were making our way back to Georgia with every intention of getting Big Bertha repaired, only to learn on Friday morning that not all of the replacement parts had arrived. The repairs would be delayed by at least another week, but since our reservation at Hope Hull RV Park was non-refundable, we continued with our travel plans anyway. While it wasn't the reason we had hoped to be in the area, the park gave us a comfortable place to spend a couple nights before continuing on toward Georgia.

We stayed at Hope Hull RV Park for two nights, and it served our needs well as a convenient stopover. Although the park only opened in 2025, it already appeared to have several long-term residents. During our stay, I used the laundry facilities, which were clean, well maintained, and included three washers, three dryers, a folding table, and a deep utility sink for rinsing items by hand. The campground itself was clean, and the staff I interacted with were friendly, welcoming, and pleasant throughout our stay.

Our stay at Hope Hull RV Park wasn't about exploring the area—it was about taking care of a few everyday tasks before continuing our journey. Having access to clean, spacious laundry facilities allowed me to wash our king-size bedding, something our RV washer and dryer simply can't handle. Sometimes it's the little conveniences that make life on the road easier, and this park provided exactly what we needed. If you're looking for a clean, comfortable overnight or short-term stop with excellent laundry facilities, I would definitely recommend Hope Hull RV Park.

In Hope Hull itself, you'll find the Alabama Safari Park, a couple of local restaurants, and a Dairy Queen—because who doesn't love stopping for a Blizzard after a day on the road?
If you venture into Montgomery, you'll find attractions such as the Montgomery Zoo, Riverfront Park and Riverwalk, and Wright Brothers Park. The area also offers several breweries and wineries, along with plenty of grocery stores, restaurants, fuel stations, and other everyday conveniences, making it an easy place to stock up before continuing your travels.
Best For: Travelers looking for a clean, convenient overnight or short-term stay. Hope Hull RV Park is a great choice for those passing through the Montgomery area who want easy interstate access, modern facilities, excellent laundry amenities, and quick access to shopping, dining, and local attractions before continuing their journey.

Biloxi Bay RV Resort was our overnight stop as we made our way from Louisiana toward Georgia, where we planned to have Big Bertha repaired. We enjoyed a relaxing evening overlooking the bay before getting back on the road the following morning. Unfortunately, after leaving Biloxi on Friday, we learned that the dealership had still not received all of the parts needed for the repairs, meaning our appointment would have to be postponed. Even though our plans had unexpectedly changed, we continued our journey toward Georgia.

We stayed in Site 134, a spacious pull-through that was easy to access with our 46-foot Brinkley and F-450. Maneuvering into and out of the site was simple, making it a great option for larger rigs. Since we were only staying one night, we didn't have the opportunity to take advantage of the resort's amenities. However, the campground's location right along Biloxi Bay more than made up for our short stay. The waterfront views were beautiful and created a peaceful setting to relax after a day on the road.

Poche's RV Park in Breaux Bridge, Louisiana, just outside of Lafayette, was the perfect home base for spending time with my daughter and grandchildren. One of the biggest highlights of this campground is its family-friendly atmosphere. With an Aqua Park, swimming pool, and splash pad, the kids had plenty of opportunities to cool off, burn off some energy, and make memories with their Nana during our visit. The park also features several stocked fishing ponds. While the Louisiana summer heat kept us from fishing for very long, the grandkids still enjoyed casting a few lines. Fishing has always held a special place in our family's heart, making those quiet moments together even more meaningful.
Poche's RV Park offers 85 full-hookup sites, each with a spacious concrete pad that provides plenty of room to spread out. Most of the sites are back-in, but we were fortunate to have a pull-through site that was still close to the water. While the pond nearest the campsites offered a nice view, it was heavily covered with aquatic grass, making it difficult to cast a line without constantly getting tangled. Thankfully, the park has several other stocked ponds that were much better suited for fishing, and we were able to spend some enjoyable time there with the grandkids.
During our stay, the majority of the campground grounds were well maintained and regularly mowed. However, I did notice that the grass around occupied RV sites—including several that appeared to be long-term stays—was not mowed. As someone traveling with two short-legged dachshunds, I appreciate campsites where the grass is kept trimmed, both for comfort and so it's easier to spot snakes (which we spotted in one of the ponds) or other wildlife that may be hiding, especially in Louisiana. Families with young children may also appreciate neatly maintained campsites for the same reason, particularly with the wooded areas surrounding portions of the park.

Memorable Moments & Insights
The most memorable part of our stay wasn't the campground itself—it was the time we spent making memories with my grandchildren. They had an absolute blast at the Aqua Park, pool, and splash pad, while Nana enjoyed cruising everyone around the campground in the complimentary golf cart. The park happened to be running a promotion that included a free golf cart rental during our stay, and with temperatures in the upper 90s and the heat index well into the triple digits, it was a perk I was incredibly grateful to have.
While I would have preferred our campsite to have been mowed like many of the others in the park, that small disappointment didn't overshadow the purpose of our visit. Poche's RV Park gave us a comfortable place to gather as a family, laugh together, and create memories that will last far longer than a few days. If we're back in the Breaux Bridge area visiting family again, I wouldn't hesitate to stay here.

Poche's RV Park is an excellent choice for those who enjoy pools, splash pads, fishing ponds, and a lively atmosphere while still being close to the restaurants, shops, and attractions of Breaux Bridge and Lafayette. It may be less appealing for travelers seeking a quiet, wooded retreat or those who place a high priority on perfectly manicured campsites.
