That was exactly our experience at Raleigh Oaks RV Resort in Four Oaks, North Carolina. We chose this park as a convenient overnight stop while traveling to Hill's Landing in Cross, South Carolina, and it served its purpose well. Although our stay was brief and we didn't have the opportunity to experience the resort's amenities, we found it to be a clean, easy stop that made for a relaxing night's rest before continuing our journey.

Our gravel site was level, and checking in was straightforward even though no staff were on-site when we arrived Sunday. Our arrival information was left for us with a phone number to call and confirm we had arrived. The campground served its purpose as an overnight stop, but at nearly twice the price of the other campgrounds we stayed at on this trip, we didn't feel it offered enough value to justify the cost.

Cherry Hill RV Park turned out to be one of the best decisions we made for our Washington, D.C., trip. Rather than worrying about traffic, parking, or driving our truck through the citywe w ere able to take advantage of the campground's transportation options and simply enjoy the experience. Combined with excellent amenities and a welcoming staff, it made for a relaxing and memorable week, and it's a campground we'd happily recommend to anyone visiting our nation's capital.

Our gravel site was clean, level, and just large enough to accommodate our RV, although we did have to park our dually in the nearby overflow parking lot due to the site's size. Normally that might have been an inconvenience, but with the campground's bus stop providing easy transportation into Washington, D.C., we rarely needed to drive. The staff was friendly and helpful, and each site includes a picnic table and fire ring. With amenities and activities for campers of all ages, Cherry Hill is much larger than it first appears and offers something for just about everyone.

Cherry Hill RV Park is ideally located for exploring much more than just Washington, D.C. We also made the easy 45-minute drive up I-95 to catch a Baltimore Orioles game, making it a great option if you're looking to experience both cities during one stay. Grocery stores are generally within a 15-20 minute drive, making it convenient to restock for a week-long visit, while the nearest Walmart is about 30 minutes away depending on traffic. With so much to see and do nearby, Cherry Hill is an excellent home base for exploring the region.
Best For: RVers wanting to explore Washington, D.C., without the stress of driving in the city. Also a great choice for families thanks to the campground's amenities and easy access to public transportation.
Not every campground becomes a favorite, and unfortunately this was one of those places for us.
We ended up spending nearly three months here while preparing to hit the road full-time and then unexpectedlyreturned while waiting for repairs after our RV was damaged.
Because we experienced this park over an extended period—not just a weekend stay—we had the opportunity to see how it operates day after day rather than through the lens of a short visit.
While the location served its purpose by giving us a place to park, we found that many of the campground's published policies were not consistently enforced, and the overall upkeep and management did not meet our expectations. Consistency matters to us because it creates a better experience for everyone staying in the park. In this review, I'll share both the positives and the areas where I believe there is significant room for improvement so you can decide whether this campground is a good fit for your travels.

During our stay, we observed that some campers, including contractors, appeared to remain in the park well beyond the 90-day limit that we were told applied to us. We also found that neither of the sites we occupied was level, and site sizes can vary, so if you're traveling in a large fifth wheel or motorhome, I would recommend confirming that your assigned site will accommodate your rig before making a reservation.
This campground offers very few amenities beyond a fenced dog park, with no bathhouse, laundry facilities, pool, or other features that many RV parks in this price range provide. Based on our experience, we did not feel the monthly rate reflected the value we received. Every RVer has different priorities, but if you're looking for a resort-style campground with numerous amenities and consistent management practices, I would encourage you to research recent reviews carefully and decide whether this park is the right fit for your travel style.

What to Watch Out For
If consistent rule enforcement, well-maintained grounds, and a quiet camping environment are important to you, ask questions before booking. Our experience was that campground policies were not applied consistently, which affected the overall atmosphere during our stay.

One advantage of this campground is its convenient location. Grocery stores, Walmart, restaurants, and other everyday necessities are all within about a 10–15 minute drive, making it easy to stock up if you're staying for more than a few days.
The campground is also close enough to Chattanooga to make exploring the area convenient. Popular attractions such as Ruby Falls, Lookout Mountain, Rock City, the Tennessee Aquarium, and downtown Chattanooga are all within an easy drive, making this a practical base if your primary goal is sightseeing.
One thing future campers should be aware of is the nearby speedway. Racing events are typically held on Tuesday evenings and weekends, and the noise was much more noticeable than we expected during our stay. If you enjoy racing, this may be a bonus. However, if you're looking for a quiet campground where you can relax outdoors, it's something you'll want to consider before booking.
Best For: Short-term stays where convenience and location matter more than resort-style amenities.
